How to prepare your cards for grading

Good preparation protects your cards and speeds up registration. This is what we recommend before you bring or send cards to Universe TCG for Next Grading.

1. Protect each card

  • Put every card in a clean penny sleeve, then in a toploader or semi-rigid holder.
  • Do not use tape on the card holder opening; it can damage the card when it is removed.
  • Avoid screw-down cases: they are hard to open and can mark the card.

2. Do not "fix" the card

Do not try to flatten, press or clean the surface with liquids. If there is dust, a soft microfibre cloth is enough. Any alteration can lower the grade or prevent grading.

3. Make a list

Write down each card: game, set, number, language and the declared value. The declared value is also what we use to insure a shipment if you ask for one.

4. Choose the service

  • Not sure which cards to grade? Book pre-grading first.
  • Many cards? The 15+1, 30+2, 60+4 and 100+7 packs include free gradings within the same order.

5. Hand them over

In person, only at our Barcelona store, where we photograph, record and register each card in front of you. From anywhere else, close your order with us before sending anything and read how to send cards for grading safely.
