Naruto Card Game (Bandai): First Look at Rules, Gameplay & Card Reveals

The wait is nearly over for shinobi fans. Bandai's Naruto Card Game is officially taking shape, with fresh details on rules, gameplay and the first card reveals shown at Gen Con 2026. The game launches in Summer 2027, and it's shaping up to be one of the biggest new TCGs since the One Piece Card Game. Here's everything revealed so far — and what it means for collectors weighing up two different Naruto card games arriving in 2027.

What Is the Naruto Card Game?

Described as a strategic trading card game spanning all three anime eras — Naruto, Naruto: Shippuden and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations — the Naruto Card Game combines original illustrations, artwork drawn straight from the anime, and manga callbacks illustrated by series creator Masashi Kishimoto himself. Early reveals already show fan favourites including Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, Jiraiya, Itachi Uchiha and Tsunade.

How to Play the Naruto Card Game

Each player builds a 51-card deck centred on a Leader card. The goal is simple but brutal: reduce your opponent's Leader life points to zero. Here's how the five card types work:

  • Leader Card — the heart of your deck; its colour determines which cards and strategies you can build around.
  • Character Card — your frontline. Character cards attack and unleash their signature jutsus on the battlefield.
  • Chakra Card — your resource. Spend Chakra to power ninjutsu, genjutsu and taijutsu attacks.
  • EX Character Card — powerful units that, once certain conditions are met, can swing the whole game.
  • Summon Card — the special card you need to bring those game-changing characters onto the field.

If you've played the One Piece Card Game, the Leader-driven, life-to-zero structure will feel instantly familiar — but the Chakra resource system and Summon mechanic give Naruto its own identity.

Naruto Card Game Card Designs & Reveals

Art is the soul of any TCG, and Bandai is leaning hard into Naruto's two decades of iconic imagery. The reveals blend crisp new illustrations with dynamic manga-panel backgrounds and holographic treatments.

Where to Go Hands-On Before Launch

Bandai is taking the Naruto Card Game on a world tour before its Summer 2027 release. You can try it early at:

  • Gen Con 2026 — United States (July 30 – August 2)
  • Bandai Card Games Fest — 11 cities worldwide (from October)
  • New York Comic Con 2026 — United States (October 8 – 11)
  • PAX Australia 2026 — Australia (October 9 – 11)
  • Spiel Essen 2026 — Germany (October 22 – 25)
  • Paris Games Week 2026 — France (October 22 – 25)
  • Lucca Comics & Games 2026 — Italy (October 28 – November 1)

But Wait — What About Naruto Mythos?

Here's where it gets confusing, and where a lot of shops (and fans) are getting it wrong. Bandai's Naruto Card Game is NOT Naruto Mythos. They are two completely separate trading card games, made by different companies, both landing in 2027:

  • Naruto Card Game (Bandai) — the brand-new game covered in this article, launching Summer 2027 worldwide.
  • Naruto Mythos — an existing Naruto TCG expanding into the US market in 2027.

So what happens to Naruto Mythos now that the official Bandai juggernaut is entering the ring? It's the big question. Bandai's proven TCG machine — the same one behind One Piece and Dragon Ball Super — arriving with the full weight of the license is a serious challenge for any competitor. For collectors, it means two distinct card pools, two distinct meta-games, and two distinct investment cases. We're keeping them completely separate so you always know exactly which game you're buying into.

Two Naruto Card Games, Two Hubs at Universe TCG

At Universe TCG we maintain dedicated, separate hubs for each game so there's zero confusion:

The Bottom Line

The Naruto Card Game is one of 2027's most anticipated TCG launches, and Bandai's pedigree makes it a must-watch for players, collectors and investors alike. With a 51-card Leader-based format, a Chakra resource engine, and Kishimoto-era art, it's built to convert both anime fans and competitive TCG players. Summer 2027 can't come soon enough.
