The Most Anticipated New TCG Is Finally Real
Bandai has officially confirmed development of the Naruto Card Game — the trading card game based on Masashi Kishimoto's iconic ninja franchise. At Universe TCG, we've been tracking every announcement since day one, and we're ready to give you the most complete breakdown available.
Who Is Making It?
Bandai holds the global rights to publish the official Naruto TCG. If you've played One Piece Card Game, Dragon Ball Super Card Game, or Digimon Card Game, you already know what Bandai delivers: premium card quality, stunning alternate art, deep gameplay mechanics, and a global distribution network that reaches every corner of Europe.
This is not a third-party licensing deal. This is Bandai's own product, developed with the same care they put into their flagship TCGs.
The Format: What to Expect
Based on Bandai's established TCG publishing model, the Naruto Card Game will follow the standard Bandai structure:
- Booster Packs — individual packs sold and opened for card pulls
- Booster Boxes — 24 booster packs per box, the standard retail unit
- Booster Box Cases — 12 Booster Boxes per case (288 packs total), the unit used by stores and sealed investors
- Starter Decks — ready-to-play decks for new players, likely featuring iconic characters like Naruto and Sasuke
Characters and Themes We Expect to See
The Naruto IP covers two major arcs: the original Naruto series and Naruto Shippuden. Both are packed with iconic characters that translate perfectly into card game mechanics:
- Naruto Uzumaki — Shadow Clone Jutsu as a multi-copy mechanic?
- Sasuke Uchiha — Sharingan as a counter or ability-copy effect?
- Kakashi Hatake — Team leadership bonuses
- Gaara, Rock Lee, Neji — each with signature mechanics tied to their fighting style
- The Akatsuki — high-power villain cards with dangerous effects
Why This Is Big for the TCG Market
Naruto is one of the three pillars of the "Big 3" anime alongside One Piece and Dragon Ball. One Piece Card Game, also published by Bandai, became one of the fastest-growing TCGs in Europe between 2022 and 2024. With the same IP size (250+ million manga copies sold worldwide) and Bandai's publishing expertise, the Naruto Card Game has every ingredient to replicate or exceed that success.
From a sealed investment perspective: early Bandai TCG sets historically appreciate strongly. OP-01 One Piece Card Game Booster Boxes have seen 5–10× price increases since launch. The market pattern is well established.
Street Date
Bandai has not announced an official street date as of July 2026. Based on typical Bandai TCG development timelines, we estimate the first sets will release in 2027. The moment an official date drops, we'll email everyone on our Naruto Card Game notification list first.
