Backorder at Universe TCG: what it is, how it works, and terms

In Universe TCG we offer the Backorder modality for certain products when there is a real possibility of restocking through distribution or the manufacturer. This page explains transparently what a backorder implies, the non-guaranteed estimated timelines (which may sometimes be weeks or months), the cancellation rules and the handling of withdrawal and the depreciation on sealed and collectible products, in accordance with the applicable regulations in Spain and the European Union.


What is a Backorder?

A Backorder is an order for a product not in immediate stock for shipment, but that could be restocked through distribution or the manufacturer. By purchasing on Backorder, the customer agrees that Universe TCG will attempt to obtain the item through its usual professional channels and that delivery depends on restocks, allocations (stock allocations) and third-party logistics.

A Backorder is not a guarantee of availability nor of a delivery date. The dates shown, if any, will be considered estimates unless expressly indicated otherwise.

When is a Backorder offered at Universe TCG?

  • Backorders are enabled only when there is a reasonable possibility of supply.
  • No Backorders are offered for products not available in distribution or lines discontinued without a planned restock.
  • Typically, Backorder is associated with accessories and items of continuous production with low, temporary, or intermittent allocations.

Payment and dispatch to distribution (approx. 24 hours)

When confirming an order in Backorder mode, the customer formalizes a contractual purchase commitment with Universe TCG. Generally, for operational reasons, Backorders are dispatched to the distribution/supplier within an approximate period of 24 hours from receipt of the order (estimated timeframe).

Once the order is dispatched to the supplier, Universe TCG enters into binding contractual commitments with third parties (distributors/manufacturers), which may prevent cancellation without incurring breach or penalties.

Delivery timelines (estimated) for Backorder

Backorders may require longer waits than usual. At times, the wait can be weeks or months, depending on restocks, allocations and logistics. Universe TCG cannot control the exact timelines of third parties and, therefore, does not guarantee a specific date unless expressly indicated.

The customer acknowledges and agrees that the prior supply time (for example, 1 month until the product arrives at our warehouse) is independent of the withdrawal policy: the withdrawal period, when applicable, is counted from receipt by the customer.

Cancellations and binding commitments

No cancellations after dispatch to supplier

Cancellations, changes or refunds of Backorders that have already been dispatched to distribution/supplier are not accepted. Since orders are usually dispatched within the first 24 hours, the window to request cancellation is limited.

Requests before dispatch

If the customer requests cancellation before the order has been dispatched to the supplier, Universe TCG may try to manage it. However, due to operational flow, Universe TCG cannot guarantee cancellation if the order has already entered internal processing.

If Universe TCG explicitly confirms the cancellation (in writing) and proceeds with the refund, this will be made by the same payment method, unless an express agreement otherwise.

Withdrawal (online sale) and 14-day counting

Universe TCG operates as a physical store and also as an online commerce. Purchases made through the website are generally considered, contracts entered into at a distance. Consequently, for consumers the right of withdrawal may apply according to the applicable regulations.

When does the period start?

In general, the legal withdrawal period is 14 natural days and starts counting from the effective receipt of the product by the customer (not from the purchase date).

Practical example: if a Backorder takes 1 month to reach Universe TCG and is subsequently sent to the customer, the withdrawal period will be that waiting period + 14 natural days counted from the delivery date to the customer.

Relation with the “no cancellations after dispatch” policy

The rule of no cancellation once dispatched to the supplier refers to the operational cancellation prior to supply. In case withdrawal is applicable, it will be processed in accordance with the regulations and the conditions indicated on this page, including the possible deduction for depreciation where applicable.

Returns: buyer-paid shipping and verification before refund

Return costs

In the exercise of the withdrawal right, the customer will assume entirely the direct cost of return (return shipping), unless Universe TCG expressly indicates otherwise.

Risk in return transportation

The customer will be responsible for ensuring that the product reaches Universe TCG facilities in perfect condition, bearing the risk of loss or damage during the return transport. It is recommended to use a tracking shipping method and proper packaging.

Verification and timing of the refund

Universe TCG may withhold the refund until the returned product is received and the verification of its condition including accessories, packaging, original elements and, if applicable, the seal.

The refund, when applicable, will be made after verification of the item's condition and in accordance with applicable regulations and with any deductions for depreciation that apply.

Sealed products and collectible items: depreciation for opening/manipulation

Many products of TCG and collectibles marketed by Universe TCG (for example, boxes, displays, sealed packs, limited editions or other sealed items) have value that depends on their condition and the original seal.

Depreciation

Opening the seal, use or manipulation beyond what is necessary to verify the product's nature and features may entail a significant decrease in market value. In such cases, Universe TCG will apply a proportional deduction from the refund amount equivalent to the depreciation actually incurred.

This means that a returned product that is opened or manipulated may yield a refund lower than the amount paid, depending on its condition, loss of value and resale possibility.

Note: Universe TCG does not claim that a full refund will never happen. If the product is returned in an intact condition, with the seal intact and without depreciation, the refund will proceed in accordance with the regulations.

Universe TCG cancellation right (if it cannot be supplied)

Universe TCG reserves the right to cancel totally or partially a Backorder if, after reasonable management, it deems that it cannot be supplied under viable conditions (for example, prolonged lack of supply, non-existent allocations, changes of manufacturer, distribution channel closure, or persistent logistical issues).

In case of cancellation by Universe TCG, the amounts charged for the cancelled items will be refunded by the same payment method, unless an express agreement otherwise, in accordance with the legally applicable timelines.

Frequently Asked Questions (Universe TCG Backorder)

Why can a Backorder take months?

Because it depends on restocks from the manufacturer/distribution and on limited allocations. Stock may arrive irregularly and without a guaranteed date.

Can I cancel my Backorder after purchasing?

Only if Universe TCG confirms that the order has not yet been dispatched to the supplier. Once dispatched, cancellations/refunds prior to shipment are not accepted.

When do the 14 days of withdrawal start?

Generally, the period starts counting from the effective receipt of the product by the customer, not from the purchase date.

If I open a sealed product, what happens to the refund?

Opening/manipulation can significantly reduce the value. In such cases, Universe TCG will apply a proportional deduction for depreciation before making the refund.

Who pays the return shipping?

In case of withdrawal, the return shipping costs are borne entirely by the buyer, unless Universe TCG explicitly indicates otherwise.
