Freedom Ascension is the fifth main booster set for the Gundam Card Game and the official 1st Anniversary set. Bandai has loaded it with fan-favourite mobile suits making their long-awaited debut:

- ν Gundam — Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack
- Shining Gundam — Mobile Fighter G Gundam

New Rarity: Link Rare Debuts in GD05
The headline feature of Freedom Ascension is the introduction of Link Rare — a completely new rarity showing linked Units and Pilots in special paired artwork. It's the first new rarity tier added to the game since launch, and first-print anniversary sets with debut rarities have historically been the strongest sealed products in any Bandai TCG.
On top of Link Rare, GD05 packs a record chase-card lineup:
- 5 types of LR++ cards — the highest rarity in the game, combining Pilots and Mobile Suits (a series record)
- 8 Pilot SP cards in special-edition versions
