The Woody Promo Frenzy
We honestly didn't expect the Disney Lorcana: Wilds Unknown Championship to cause such a massive stir! When we first announced the event, we noticed an unprecedented wave of requests to make the event private, and we couldn't figure out why. Shortly after, we realized what was going on: the exclusive Top 8 Woody promotional card had skyrocketed in the secondary market, selling for upwards of €150!
Naturally, this caused a lot of frustration among our regular players who felt they were being pushed out of the competition by people solely interested in flipping the promo card. We hear you, and we agree that our dedicated community should come first.
Official Universe TCG Statement
Because of this, we have issued the following statement regarding future competitive events:
STATEMENT FOR LORCANA PLAYERS
Universe TCG informs all Lorcana players that the Championship initially scheduled for this Saturday is postponed to next week.
As an exception, this Championship will be open to all interested players, subject to venue capacity limits. We believe that establishing participation requirements on such short notice would be unfair to those who, for work or personal reasons, haven't been able to attend previous leagues or events.
However, Universe TCG announces that all future major competitive Lorcana events will operate via an invitational system.
Invitations can be earned through active community participation: attending prereleases, special events, regular league days, or other store-organized activities.
Universe TCG reserves the right to decide which players may participate in these events, regardless of available spots, in accordance with applicable regulations and internal organizational criteria.
The goal of this measure is to prioritize our regular players, those who help grow the community, and those who contribute to a positive gaming environment. We will also especially value experienced players who teach and mentor newcomers during tournaments or casual play days.
This invitational system will take effect starting with the Attack of the Vine prerelease.
The upcoming Buzz Lightyear event will also be held, and we will repeat it off-schedule to give players more chances to earn promotional copies while supplies last. The Buzz event will be a great opportunity to start earning merits for future invitations.
